Arlington Automotive recently teamed up with Gwennili Trust as part of the Arlington Inclusivity Campaign.
Gwennili Trust is an established organisation dedicated to making offshore sailing fun and accessible to people with varying disabilities. The trust offers bespoke individual and group excursions to aid the development and inclusion for all.
Departing from Port Solent Marina, Portsmouth, the Arlington cruise took place 1st-7th September and was organised to bring people together from different sites to explore their personal and professional development by being introduced to the challenges and rewards of sailing in a team-building exercise.
Mark Franckel, Arlington Industries Group CEO, commented on the venture: “On behalf of all at Arlington, we’re delighted about the resounding success of the trip. All of the participants came back into work with a new lease of life and we look forward to giving more people the opportunity to go on more trips with the Gwennili Trust as our partnership works really well together.”
The team who took part in the excursion also left their comments regarding the trip:

“I really enjoyed the activities and the amazing experience of being involved in all aspects of sailing.
I felt the teamwork was brilliant and also enjoyed getting to know my colleagues from Birmingham and Coventry. I have a Level 1 in BSL and found it was all good experience communicating for Kevin. Overall. I feel I have grown in confidence and will always remember this experience of a lifetime.”
Keven Mannion – Birmingham
“It was my first time on a boat. It was a big boat and I was very curious. They explained how the boat operated and shared their experiences, as well as teaching us how to sail.”
Lisa Nicolaou – Coventry
“I found it really exciting. I was very nervous at first but soon overcame my nerves and found the experience great for team building. I enjoyed doing something different and learning new things.”
Veronica Burton – Coventry
“I really loved it! I would like to go again, my best bit was all of it, each and every moment. It was also great to meet new people and share experiences.”
Phil Ward- Coventry
“They make sailing look easy and boy, they gave me an adrenalin rush when the keel goes on its side and you speed off at 25 knots!! When is the next one?
It was truly amazing and a great opportunity for all who went sailing. Everyone came back to work energized and refreshed by the fantastic experience of working together in such an amazing way.
I highly recommend it to anyone.”
