Arlington Automotive is proud to announce that two members of our staff are celebrating 40 years of service within our company.
Michael Nicholls started at the Birmingham site in 1978 and two years later, he met his now wife Sue. During his time here, he was worked on many jobs/assemblies all around the site before becoming a leading hand and then Acting Team Leader on a major OEM’s mud flap cell.
After this, he took a change in direction and moved to the dispatch department. Here, Michael started as a forklift drive which he has now done for 17 years. Within this department, he now helps with the training of temp drivers, delivery check off, dispatch collation and check off, dealing with drivers and contractors and anything else that can help the department function efficiently. On reflection of his career so far at Arlington Automotive, Michael said: “Even though I have difficulty with my reading and writing, when working at the Birmingham site with my friends, I have no problems thanks to the team spirit.”
Again in 1978, Paul Higgs began his career at the Rehabilitation Centre site in Coventry packing bicycles before moving on to assembling facia dials for oil pressure gauges. Paul then worked on the shredder bed making bails for horse boxes and then for a number of years on RAD grills for cars and lorry headliner packaging. Over the years, he has taken on a number of roles and jobs including working on oil and air filters, assembly of pace board tables and shower screens, general packaging and more recently, working within a leading OEM section. Paul mentioned how much of a great feeling it was to work for a company for so many years and have such a stable career.
Arlington Automotive is delighted to have had these two members of staff achieve such a monumental milestone in their career and look forward to many more years working with them as part of a unified team.
